You take the easy money. The LIV Golf millions. You play Mickey Mouse golf. Exhibition golf, rather than compete with golfers in the real thing over 4 rounds every week. Your game starts to suffer. Has Cam Smith fallen foul of greedy golfer syndrome? This is what generally happens to elite sports people when they take the easy money? The poor boy looked lost out there at Royal Queensland in the Australian PGA Championship. Had he got so relaxed from rolling in all that money that he, maybe, forgot what real golf in a real tournament felt like?

AFL Umpiring Directives Ruining Our Game

Watching the Friday night game between Carlton and the Swans it was hard not to think that AFL umpiring directives are ruining our game. The protect the head mantra has gone way overboard in this lifelong fan’s opinion. The games have 3 field umpires policing play and the number of tiggy touchwood decisions are numerous and overly influential. The inconsistencies are legion in most matches I observe. AFL is a physically challenging game and one I played myself as a junior. This aspect of the game is one of its most endearing features. The holding the ball rule is a travesty, with each umpire interpreting it differently in a single match.

Sunday At The Masters

They say that green is the colour of envy and there are a lot of envious professional golfers who covert a green jacket. There is talk of the past champions walking a little taller around Augusta National. Neither Scottie Scheffler or Cameron Smith have a green jacket or have won a major in their brief golfing careers. Tiger has five of course. Rory doesn’t have one. The 2022 leaderboard on Sunday at the Masters contained no past champions in contention to win. Some are talking about a changing of the guard at the pointy end of tournament golf.

Uppity women talking about sexual harassment and such like make their viewer’s blood boil – which is the whole idea for Fox. Getting their audience riled up keeps eyeballs on them and advertising rates going up for their revenue.Popularizing Poisonous Issues For Political GainThe politics of grievance is all about popularizing these causes for the benefit of candidates and the party. The party promoting these grievances doesn’t need positive policies. They just bang on about how the other side is to blame for the problem.
