Heeney and co are dirtbag heroes whilst the club portrays itself as the paragon of virtue in a progressive world.

Sport used to be the exclusive domain of blokes. It was at heart, a guy thing and the male animal sometimes got dirty. Especially at club piss up functions and the like. I used to play amateur footy and we got up to all sorts afterhours, as I am sure plenty of others did too. Whilst not proud of some of the naughty stuff, at the same time it was not a hanging offence back then. Unfortunately for Isaac Heeney, Chad Warner, Nick Blakey, James Jordon and Riley Bice it is a totally different situation for highly paid professional AFL players. The commercial reality is that corporate sponsors and broadcast advertisers pay their million dollar wages. These players are directly and indirectly responsible to these companies and businesses.
Sydney Swan Sleazy Carpenters Ogle Exotic Dancers
I keep hearing the term ‘community standards’ and wonder what that really means. This is because strippers and exotic dancers fulfil roles within our community. The sex industry does exist for better or worse. I have heard that these AFL players pretended to be carpenters when negotiating a price for an in-room special performance back at the Pullman hotel (unfortunate name). This strikes me as particularly cheap and nasty in an economic sense. I have no issue with these players copping their whack for breaking team rules. I will wait for the Victoria police to complete their investigation before condemning them on alleged sex crime charges. Every event has complexities and there are always two sides to every story.
A Grubby Fall From Grace
In the real world, however, moral condemnation by officialdom and its corporate partners is career killing. The media bays for blood like a hungry wolf pack. If you set yourself up as virtuous in the public sphere and blow that big time in a sex scandal be prepared for the worst. The club must sack the sleazy Sydney Swans from their playing list. It will be sad to see such real talent go but it is all for a bigger cause in the end. If you cannot trust your people, you cannot complete the mission. What is the mission? Snorting cocaine from the bare breasts and buttocks of exotic dancers in the wee hours inside your hotel room is not G rated family friendly news. I doubt whether this will feature in the next Isaac Heeney kiddie’s book. “Snorting Blow Upon Mummy’s Belly In The Bedroom” could be the title. His smiling visage will likely not beam out from the covers of such fare. Colgate have dumped him, I have heard on the rumour mill. How quickly the smart folk with the open cheque books disappear. This is not an original story, we have seen and heard it all before. Tabloid fodder for the masses. Lurid stuff for knuckleheads to guffaw over down the pub. Already, we are seeing the choice of Heeney photos on the news turn slightly sinister, as the producers there are want to do so. Selective editing to frame the story via the very worst images available.
Throwing Away Careers In An Evening Of Madness
Isaac Heeney is not a serial killer. He was the messiah for plenty of Sydney footy fans, but now is just a very naughty boy. If he has sexually assaulted this woman, as allegedly claimed, then he will be prosecuted for it. The public, however, want instant gratification for their judgemental condemnation. These highly paid stars of the Sydney Swans AFL club are too stupid by my standards. Throwing away their careers in an evening of madness on the eve of the finals. Betraying the trust of their team mates, coaches, club staff and supporters. Entitlement rears its ugly head in this smelly situation. I am too sexy for my own good. Too adored by fans. Overpaid and given too much of everything without responsibilities. Peter Pans living inside a bubble. Crash comes down the crystal palaces of career and public adulation. How will the kids comprehend what has happened? How do you tell your children?
