Xenophobic antiimmigration marches have been organised by white supremacists and far right groups in the hope of dividing the nation. They have been using Colin Hay’s song and wrapping themselves in the Aussie flag as well. This creepy right wing activist behaviour disparages our national identity and dirties our flag with their narrow minded bullshit. Colin Hay says the Land Downunder was built on immigration. Behind the unAustralian anti-immigration rhetoric are wealthy right wing individuals, like the businessman behind Advance Australia. Ultimately for them it is about gaining power in which to profit, the culture wars and Xenophobia are smokescreens. All right wing parties in Australia are backed by mining interests and other corporates that see an advantage in having their ‘putting profit first’ kind of politicians in power.

Marches against immigration in Australia are happening at the same time that President Donald Trump’s ICE are causing mayhem and death with extreme cruelty in the United States. The right wing vision is a white supremacist one with heavy Anglo overtones to boot. Brown skinned Americans are being targeted by heavily armed and masked ICE agents more reminiscent of paramilitary stormtroopers. It is vile behaviour and largely illegal, as is much of what the Trump regime are doing in America and internationally. Supporters of authoritarianism are seemingly enjoying the suffering of vulnerable Americans. The sloppy and stupid nature of the Trump forces have seen hundreds of American citizens beaten up and detained illegally. Renee Good was protesting the heavy presence of ICE in her city Minneapolis. This mother of 3 was shot in the face from point blank range by an ICE agent for her troubles. Renee Good was murdered in cold blood. She was carrying a whistle whilst her killer was heavily armed and wearing battle fatigues. Gutless cowards the lot of these fascist scumbags.

Colin Hay came from Scotland as an immigrant to this country. Australia is built on the back of immigrants. We have a wonderful multicultural society full of good people. I for one do not want people like Pauline Hanson and her racist supporters defining what this nation is and will be. I take offence at these people desecrating our national flag by their use of it in their xenophobic activism. I would invite these white supremacists to move to the United States permanently. Go and make ugly over there.
