Fremantle Blown Away By Relentless Hawkes

I have to say, how wrong headed can the Fox Footy AFL expert David King be! Captain Emphatic, David King, was blowing hard about the x3 Fremantle key forwards and how they would be the difference in the Qualifying Final. Having watched a bit of footy myself over the years, I know that big forwards rarely shine in finals. It did not help their cause that it rained a fair bit in Perth at the stadium. Fremantle blown away by relentless Hawkes. Hawthorn outpressured and outplayed Fremantle all night. The Hawkes were battle hardened experienced final’s contenders and the Dockers, by contrast, were out of their depth.

Docker Forwards Shut Out By Hawthorn Defenders

These Fox Footy ‘so-called’ experts talk a big game but their insight is not much chop. Mansplaining their way through matches, they bore footy fans with their loud opinionated style. Gee, we miss the late Dennis Cometti, the great man had a light touch as an AFL commentator. The contrast is chalk and cheese. Combine David King with Jack Riewoldt and the boorish certainty is so heavy handed I find myself forced to turn the sound down to escape them. Meanwhile, the game itself proved that final’s experience is essential when the whips are cracking. Josh Treacy was unsighted all night and I am not sure if he even took one mark? Patrick Voss was ineffective. Jye Amiss was the better of a bad lot.

“The qualifying final marked Hawthorn’s first since 2018, when it went out in straight sets, with the 10.12 (72) to 5.10 (40) victory putting it in the perfect position for a first premiership since the last of its treble in 2015, with Mitchell in that side.”

Freo Players Dazed & Blown Away By The Hawkes

You could come away after watching this AFL final with either or both of these narratives. The first being that Fremantle, having lost several of their last few games quite badly, have mislaid their form at the worst possible time of the season. Team form does wax and wane during these long AFL seasons. The Dockers are not playing like they were during their 14 game winning streak in season 2026. Whether they can regain winning form is an unknown, but they earned the double chance by finishing atop the ladder – so let us see what eventuates next week. The second narrative is what I alluded to earlier in this piece. Hawthorn exhibited battle hardened final’s experience to outpressure Fremantle for 4 quarters last night. In addition to this, I would mention that big city Melbourne headspace is more intense than laid back Perth. The visitors brought way more intensity to the contest than the home side. If you have lived in both cities you will know what I mean. Survival is tougher in bigger metropolises than smaller cities. Greater competition everywhere you look and this impacts upon mindsets. The Fremantle players looked dazed and shocked by the ferociousness of the Hawkes.

Footy Experts Left Looking Silly

Fremantle blown away by relentless Hawkes. No time and no space to contemplate. The tackling pressure was unceasing. It was enormous and it broke the Docker spirit in the end. The x3 big power forwards were impotent and useless on the night. Fox Footy commentator David King was so wrong about this Freo feature that he should be ashamed. Expert my arse, what passes for insight and wisdom these days is hyperbole and BS. What annoys me about these pundits is that they attempt to impose their narratives upon the game, rather than actually calling it. It is contemptible really.

AFL Finals Set On Their Arse By Victorious Hawkes

Hawthorn are through to a Preliminary Final in 2 weeks. They will be hard to beat. Fremantle has lost pride and must regroup ASAP. My guess is that they will face Geelong in a Semi Final next week, again at home. Can the Dockers rediscover their winning form? Or will it be a straight set’s departure from the 2026 AFL Finals?

Strippers & Swan’s Alleged Sex Crimes

“OK time to get real now. It appears from available information that the women at the centre of the alleged Sydney Swan player sexual crimes were exotic dancers or strippers in the more common parlance. These women were paid to come and perform in a hotel room at the Pullman in Melbourne. Leaving aside the fact that Sydney Swan AFL players should not have been behaving in this manner during the season and have been suspended by the club on this basis let us look at the alleged sex crime itself. Reports tell us that around 9 men were in this hotel room at the time for the performance by the exotic dancers. Most professional sex workers are accompanied by their own security in these circumstances. Going to a hotel room to entertain men in the wee hours of the night tells us the nature of this business. Strippers at the centre of Sydney Swans alleged sexual crime.”
