Many people are wondering this. Why is everything so expensive now? The answer is because of American capitalism and how it has manipulated things to achieve extreme wealth for its investors. There is more than US$100 trillion under asset management and this includes a great deal of infrastructure that we all use in our daily lives. Roads, bridges, parking places, airports, hospitals, schools, digital networks, energy utilities, telecommunication infrastructure, commercial real estate and residential property have now found their way under asset management. These asset managers want strong annual returns on their investments. The companies running these assets want strong returns for their shareholders. The market is all about ROI and not so much about workers and consumers in the 21C.
