The game of golf has long been associated with the pursuit of excellence, both physically and mentally. Whether you are an avid golfer, a weekend player, or simply a fan of the sport, you understand the importance of a strong, focused mind on the course. This is why the principles of Stoicism, the ancient philosophy that emphasizes the development of inner peace and resilience, are so applicable to golf. In “The Stoic Golfer: Finding Inner Peace & Focus On The Fairways,” I explore the intersection of these two seemingly disparate worlds and offer a new perspective on how to approach the game of golf with a Stoic mindset.

The Stoic Golfer is specifically designed to address the issues involved in mastering the mental game. Will I be able to understand the philosophy of Stoicism written down by Marcus Aurelius hundreds of years ago?

The Stoic Golfer: Finding Inner Peace & Focus On The Fairway takes inspiration from a selection of key passages of the Meditations. These are interpreted and put into everyday language with the golfer front of mind. I explore the intersection of these two worlds and offer a new perspective on how to approach the game of golf with a Stoic mindset. Stoicism shows us  how to cultivate the mental and emotional skills that are so essential to success on the course. You will enjoy reading this book, especially if golf is your game.

Reader Feedback About The Stoic Golfer: Finding Inner Peace & Focus On The Fairway

Looking at the cover of your book, The Stoic Golfer: Finding Inner Peace & Focus On The Fairway, I couldn’t help wonder what it represents? Is the sketch the outline of a golfer’s head, perhaps, trying to nut out the mental game? Or is it a golf ball? Or, could it be some sort of crystal ball symbolising something about the mysteries inherent in the game of golf. You know, like how we battle to keep our composure under all sorts of mental pressure? Sometimes inner peace seems a long way away from my experiences out on the course. I.H

Although, I initially found the Marcus Aurelius Meditations’ excerpts a bit baffling I did eventually cotton onto their meaning. It was fun, like a puzzle, to decipher the old world language. Like you said in the book, it was a case of reading new greens at an unfamiliar course and after a while you adjust to them. The golfing applications were spot on, however, and the exercises have been interesting. I am still doing the one about the putts and focusing on the left and right sides. It is helping me to pay more attention to what I am doing on the golf course, especially on the greens. B.V
