If Trump’s America invades Greenland, which is a protectorate of Denmark, who is a member of NATO, what is Australia going to do? Will PM Albanese pretend that it isn’t happening, which seems to be the current ‘go to’ position with regards to the unhinged behaviour of our US ally. How long will we, a proud western democracy upholding liberal values, continue to look the other way when it comes to Trump’s regime shitting on laws and human rights willy nilly? Is this another example of ‘too big to fail’ special exemptions being applied? Is the reality of the US becoming a rogue state run by a kleptocracy beyond the comprehension of our little politicians and what they are able to deal with on the world stage?
Aussie Politicians Are Out Of Their Depth!
It sure looks that way because I don’t see any courageous leaders stepping up to the plate downunder. It is bloody hard to recognise Labor politicians anymore from their supposed arch rivals. They are all cringe worthy and pretty craven toward their neoliberal corporate masters. Competition does not exist in any sectors within Australia. ASIC and the ACCC have all woefully failed to maintain competition within the system, even though that is their primary function. Capitalism does not work for all without competition. Crony capitalism games the system so that shareholders, boards and executives profit at the expense of consumers and workers. No competition means extreme consolidation and concentration of power in the hands of a few to the detriment of the many. 4 big banks making huge profits every year. In fact they accrue $200, 000 profit on their home loans on average. 2 giant supermarket chains control the grocery market. 2 telecommunication companies dominate the mobile phone and data business. A couple of insurance giants actually own all the other insurance brands in that market. Then there are the American multinationals, who never pay their fair share of corporate tax downunder. Apple, Amazon, Uber, Meta, Microsoft and Google (Alphabet) – these big tech giants have virtual monopolies. Competition? Most younger folk have never heard of it. Our governments have been complicit in letting us all be screwed senseless by these rapacious businesses.
See No Evil, Hear No Evil
You cannot see the current crop of politicians coping with the actual state of the real world. The real politik, as they say, where an out of control President Donald Trump, invades Venezuela and snatches its President Maduro in a covert special operation. 80 Venezuelans are killed in the bombing and shooting. All of this is completely illegal. Not a word out of the federal government back in Oz. See no evil, hear no evil must be the credo of this Labor government. Keep your head down and just hope that it goes away, this seems to be their MO, right now. Little Australian politicians wearing blinkers, when it comes to the chaotic and crazed Trump regime. What is Australia going to do?
What Would Carney Do?
There used to be a comedienne on the ABC, who had a segment entitled, ‘What Would Putin Do?’ This seems in poor taste post the Russian invasion of Ukraine, but back a few years we were none the wiser, as to Putin’s depth of villainy. Perhaps, we should elevate Canadian PM, Mark Carney, to this coveted spot? What would Carney do? The Canadian leader appears to be a mite more courageous in his dealings with Trump than our own top dog. Albo seems to adhere to a Mahatma Ghandi like path of non-violent resistance. Satyagraha, accepting suffering without retaliation. Hells bells, though, Trump ruffles my feathers and I would like to see him knocked off his perch. Yes, I would like to see that!
How Low Can They Go?
Seriously, though, for how long are we going to ignore the elephant in the room re-Trump’s diabolical behaviour at home and abroad? If US forces invade Greenland are we going to pretend that it did not happen? NATO will be kaput. The distinction between bad guys and good guys will be 100% over. Will Australia ditch its moral integrity in favour of sticking with the bully with the biggest stick? This is a test of character for Albo and his Labor government. We know the other mob have no credibility or integrity to bother with in the first place. Right wing parties have lost their moral authority globally since Trump came into the picture and took over the GOP. How low can they go? Is their credo these days.

The US already has had military bases on Greenland for decades and closed many of them. US mining companies are welcome to explore and mine on Greenland, and very few are doing so. No, Greenland is a vanity project for a very old man who only thinks about himself.”
