Rory is a very Irish name. Rory McIlroy striding the links at Royal Portrush clad in Saturday red was a sight to behold. Putts going in caused huge roars that echoed around the golf course. A million fans tried to get tickets to this year’s Open. This was an Irish golf love fest. Families were there from oldies down to grandkids. The Rory roar in North Ireland was just the shot in the arm that the game needed post LIV. A stern test of championship golf challenging players from around the globe. The world’s best doing battle on the shores of these isles.
Rory McIlroy On Home Soil At Portrush
Australia’s best were just not up to it. Scottie Scheffler sits atop the leaderboard looking way too comfortable. Rory is chasing and must be some 6 shots back. The many fans are loving it. It all makes for a potentially exciting Sunday at the153rd Open. Great golf on a tight track and what will the weather have to say about it? Links golf is invariably all about the weather. Who will lift the claret jug this year? Will it be Scottie or do the golfing gods have a surprise in store for us?

Four rounds of golf is a big test, just ask anybody who actually plays the game. It is a marathon and an excruciating test in majors. Remember the US Open and JJ Spaun popping up to claim the trophy – anything can happen in reality. Pundits like to reckon they know what is going to unfold but they are kidding themselves really. Rory looked good on Saturday after the first two days were a bit of a struggle. Whether he can rise again to the very top is probably why he plays this game at this level. The motivation is there and now for the execution. The Rory roar in North Ireland is pretty loud folks.
