Why Is Everything So Expensive?
A little thing called the profit motive has moved into every neighbourhood. Under the guise of an economic theory entitled neoliberalism what used to be owned by the citizenry is now in private hands. Roads, parking places, airports, hospitals, schools, telecommunication infrastructure, digital networks, energy providers, utilities, airlines, banks and more are now all run to make ever greater profits. Shareholders are king and workers and consumers are well down the list of their priorities. We are all getting shafted so that a few can get filthy rich at our expense. Profitability should not be the driving force for everything on planet earth.
Burying Our Future Generations In Debt
Our younger generations are getting royally screwed, economically, in the current climate. Rents are prohibitively expensive, having risen by 44% over the last few years. Buying a house means spending a million dollars. Higher education involves taking on a debt between $60K and upwards. This is then linked to the CPI, so if inflation continues this debt rises considerably. AI is fast approaching and that means way less white collar jobs. At the same time, the prices of everything have gone up consistently over the last 4 years. What Price Life? Why is everything so expensive? This book explains some of the main causes driving the bus. If we continue to blithely let ourselves be pushed around by big companies and billionaires we are all going to end up in the dog house. Our politicians are less than useless, as they are operating out of yesterday’s perspective.

It is not a fair fight. It is manipulated capitalism, American style, now under the aegis of Donald Trump and his regime. The multinationals refuse to pay their fair share of tax wherever they trade by shifting profits to tax havens. The economic life of citizens is no longer front and centre for governments, as they have sold out to lobbyists representing big business. Zombie neoliberalism infects everything they do, as they abdicate their responsibilities to ‘market forces’. The market has been rigged in favour of billionaires and oligarchs. Our democratically elected leaders do not listen to voices that are not backed by big money.
The first step in any fight for social and economic justice is becoming aware of the depth of the problem. It is no time to be apathetically shuffling along like a drone slave. Get informed.
