Day 2 At The Masters

Scotty X has been playing the great game of golf for decades. When he is not missing putts he is writing stuff about why he is missing putts. Scotty changes putters more often than he changes his sheets. Rain, hail, or shine you will find him on the links lining up a shot. Losing by one stroke in the monthly medal is his bread and butter. Worrying about head movements, weight shifts, and shaft angles is par for the course for this gentleman. Nobody struggles with the transition like Scotty and no one suffers from golfer's elbow and a bad knee like this fella. If god existed he would be a golfer in this golf tragic's philosophy. There are far more than 10 commandments in the rules of golf.

Designing a golf course - green grass field

They say a day is a long time in golf. Day 2 at the Masters for Cameron Smith proved that saying. Smith putted like a blindman on Friday, with apologies to the visually impaired. The young man who made 8 birdies on Thursday could not find the hole it seemed. Commentators told us that it was windy out on the course and challenging conditions for the competitors. Scottie Scheffler, the new number one golfer, soon established a 3 shot lead for much of the second day. The coverage was extremely Tiger focused, as we watched Tiger struggle and then fightback to stay in touch with the leaderboard.

Second Day Competition At The Masters

The crowds were applauding Woods as he walked up fairways, as if he was the second coming. Americans love to make a whole lot out of their own. Of course, it is a remarkable achievement that Tiger is out here competing. The Masters is that kind of event, however, a Mecca for self-congratulatory country club culture. The TV networks love a narrative with a hero, and they went to town on Tiger’s return from a nasty car accident. I was hoping to see Tiger walk on water across Rae’s creek without the assistance of the Hogan bridge. I am pretty sure they would have shown every Tiger shot even if he had of been 10 over par.

Golf at The Masters on Friday

The pristine Augusta National looked a treat and proved to be a testing track for the world’s best golfers. Hideki Matsuyama, the defending champion, is thereabouts at the upper reaches of the leaderboard. So too are Shane Lowry, Charl Schwartzel, and Sungjae Im. Dustin Johnson, Joachim Niemann, Kevin Na, Cam Smith, Harold Varner, Fanny Willett, Justin Thomas, Conners, Morikawa, and Zalatoris are all under par. Scottie Scheffler got to 8 under par, and looks to be running away with it, but it is only halfway in this tournament.

Tiger Woods made the cut by three strokes, which was a mighty effort. Wind is the real killer out there on the golf course. It not only affects your shots but messes with your swing rhythm. The conditions at this rendition of the Masters have been testing and Scottie Scheffler’s play has been masterful to say the least. He would end up with a 5 shot lead after the third round. Golf is a great game, and the Masters captures some truly awesome golf in a suitably dramatic setting.
