DP World Doesn’t Pay Its Fair Share Of Taxes

DP World, the naming sponsor of the European Tour, is a major tax minimiser. It is one of those large corporations that does its level best to legally pay as little tax as possible. Perhaps, this is why it can afford to sponsor golf to this extent? However, in my opinion, DP World doesn’t pay its fair share of taxes. As much as I wish for elite professional golfers to be able to earn lots of prize money I reckon that governments like Australia require tax revenue to fund health, education, and infrastructure more.

Why Can’t I Sustain Good Golf For My Entire Round?

Hands up who experiences this problem in their competitive golf. Why can’t I sustain good golf for my entire round? Four plus hours is a long time and we are not machines. Despite the vastly improved equipment we play golf with it is still a tough ask to maintain your striking ability over 280 minutes. Playing good golf for this length of time, with all the variables presented by the golf course and your four ball, is challenging. Yes, the actual time involved in making golf shots is much less but it comes at unforeseen intervals over the duration of your round.

Sunday At The Masters

They say that green is the colour of envy and there are a lot of envious professional golfers who covert a green jacket. There is talk of the past champions walking a little taller around Augusta National. Neither Scottie Scheffler or Cameron Smith have a green jacket or have won a major in their brief golfing careers. Tiger has five of course. Rory doesn’t have one. The 2022 leaderboard on Sunday at the Masters contained no past champions in contention to win. Some are talking about a changing of the guard at the pointy end of tournament golf.

OMG the sky is going to fall in. In this partisan realm complaints about there being too many coloured faces on TV and LGBTQIA folk making too much noise are legion. Uppity women talking about sexual harassment and such like make their viewer’s blood boil – which is the whole idea for Fox. Getting their audience riled up keeps eyeballs on them and advertising rates going up for their revenue.Popularizing Poisonous Issues For Political GainThe politics of grievance is all about popularizing these causes for the benefit of candidates and the party. The party promoting these grievances doesn’t need positive policies. They just bang on about how the other side is to blame for the problem.
