Is there any game crueller than golf? Watching Mito Pereira double bogie the 72nd hole of a major championship to miss a playoff by one shot rammed home the answer in the negative. Golf is a hard taskmaster and a cruel mistress in no uncertain terms. The USA PGA Championship was won by Justin Thomas following a 3 hole aggregate playoff against Will Zalatoris. Thomas was a deserving winner make no mistake on that score. Mito, however, had led the tournament all day until the final hole and for much of the 3 previous days. It will be a bitter pill for the Chilean to swallow but he has every reason to be proud of his achievements.

What Is Golf?

What is golf? It is a vicious arrangement where nature takes its revenge on hapless human beings for seemingly no reason but to get its kicks. Talk about passive aggressive. Golf is a game (LOL). In this game you have 18 holes artfully plotted over an area of land. On this land there are a number of hazards or penalty areas. These may include bodies of water, wild bushland, and desert like sand traps. The aim of the game is to get a small white ball from one end of a strip of land to the other, where a small hole is located. This hole is demarked by a flag on the end of a thin pole.

36 Points But Who’s Counting

Just scored 36 points for my afternoon on the golf course. 36 big one’s for all my hard work on and around the greens. Thirty six Stableford points means shooting your allotted handicap on the day for those not in the know. It means I can walk tall for the rest of the week rather than feel small for failing. This is the funny thing about golf and its strictures within clubland. We toil and do battle with ourselves and the course in a bid to reach parity and possibly glory. A pass mark is 36 points but who’s counting.

OMG the sky is going to fall in. In this partisan realm complaints about there being too many coloured faces on TV and LGBTQIA folk making too much noise are legion. Uppity women talking about sexual harassment and such like make their viewer’s blood boil – which is the whole idea for Fox. Getting their audience riled up keeps eyeballs on them and advertising rates going up for their revenue.Popularizing Poisonous Issues For Political GainThe politics of grievance is all about popularizing these causes for the benefit of candidates and the party. The party promoting these grievances doesn’t need positive policies. They just bang on about how the other side is to blame for the problem.
